There will be an introduction/orientation program for new and prosepective
members/candidates who are interested in joining as a member of Kentucky's
only Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT). DMATs are one type of
specialized team under the National Disaster Medical System (NDMS), which is
now back under the umbrella of the U.S. Department of Health and Human
Services. The team is recruiting medical as well as non-medical support
personnel (logistics, administrative, communications, etc.) as we contually
strive to be ready for major disasters and other critical incidents, such as
Hurricane Katrina/Wilma/Rita, for which DMAT KY-1 was deployed. All
prospective candidates and interested individuals are welcome to attend.

The program will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2007, beginning at 9:00 AM
local time, at the
Lake Cumberland Cancer Treatment Center, 112 Tradepark Drive, Somerset,
Kentucky. The program will run through 4:30 PM and will include box lunches
and refreshments.

Anyone interested in attending this program is requested to contact me so
that we will be able to have an accurate estimate of the number of
individuals attending. Please pass this information along to anyone who
might be interested being on our DMAT.

For those wishing to attend, I can e-mail the agenda and directions upon
request. I look forward to seeing everyone in Somerset on the 23rd.
