   I see you have been a tech for while. I'd say that you have a lot of 
resentment built up against those with higher class licenses that they 
worked hard to earn to have privileges you did not have. You have a vanity 
call that suggest you are a pre-1960's ham ( which is when the 8 area got 
into the WA8 calls). Who would know if you passed a code test or not just 
by talking with you on the air?  Up grade your license and operate. You are 
just too sensitive to the few that you have heard. I have not heard them.
    Personally I am troubled by the path the FCC is taking by eliminating 
the only exam that they did not provide published answers.  The only test 
that was a test.
At one time Hams used to be considered experts in radio, an Extra earned 
nearly as much respect as a First Class Radio Telephone or Telegraph 
license. That has all changed. Get over it and upgrade. If you were closer 
you could attend our classes and learn more about radio. You are welcome to 
attend if you don't mind the trip. I am sure you have seen the announcements.
