Can you be a little more precise than just "this area"? Does that
refer to: Earth? Kentucky? Eastern Kentucky, Western Kentucky,
Central Kentucky, Northern Kentucky, etc.?

There used to be a trick us old timers used before antenna analyzers
became available. The trick was to check the SWR at the upper end of
the band and the lower end of the band. If the SWR was higher at
the upper end, that meant that the antenna was too long and needed to
be shorted (Resonance below the band.). If the SWR was lower at the
upper end, that meant that the antenna was too short and needed to be
lengthened (Resonance above the band.). Of course, it was also a good
idea to check the SWR in the middle of the band, too, since it could be
resonant within the band.
