Looks like winter is coming on with a vengeance. All stations should
monitor the weather through the weekend for updates on this developing
situation. Take steps now to be prepared should this become a more
complicated situation. Attached are summaries from our weather service
offices.

Charleston NWSFO:

WINTRY MIX OF PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED ACROSS THE OUTLOOK AREA
BEGINNING SATURDAY NIGHT AND LASTING INTO THE DAY ON SUNDAY. AT
THIS TIME IT APPEARS ANY PRECIPITATION WILL BEGIN AS LIGHT SNOW LATE
SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY MORNING BEFORE CHANGING OVER TO ALL RAIN
FROM SOUTHWEST TO NORTHEAST ACROSS THE AREA BY AFTERNOON. THERE MAY
ALSO BE A PERIOD OF FREEZING RAIN SUNDAY MORNING. LIGHT ACCUMULATIONS
OF SNOW AND ICE ARE POSSIBLE BEFORE THE PRECIPITATION CHANGES OVER
TO RAIN.

SNOW SHOWERS ARE POSSIBLE FROM SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY
ALTHOUGH LITTLE IF ANY ACCUMULATIONS ARE ANTICIPATED

Jackson NWSFO: Wintry Mix Possible this Weekend...

A wintry mix of precipitation is expected this weekend across eastern
Kentucky. At this time it appears the precipitation will begin as snow
late Saturday night or early Sunday before transitioning to rain by
Sunday afternoon. Some freezing rain is also possible Sunday morning.

Louisville NWSFO: A relatively quick moving weather system forecast to
track across the Gulf Coast States into the Southeastern U.S. may
provide a period of wintry precipitation for central Kentucky and
southern Indiana this weekend. At this time, the best chances for snow
are early Sunday morning into Sunday afternoon. There is potential for
snow accumulations of more than an inch across much of the region, with
the best chances north of a line from Hawesville to Lexington where
accumulations of 2 or 3 inches may be possible. South of that line a
possible mix of snow and rain may limit accumulations.

However since we are still 3+ days away there is a fair amount of
uncertainty with the track of the system, therefore the forecast will be
revised as new data is analyzed by National Weather Service
meteorologists. People in the area, especially those with travel plans
this weekend, should monitor local media, NOAA Weather Radio, or this
website for updates as we come closer to the weekend.

Paducah NWSFO:

A WINTER STORM SYSTEM WILL LIKELY AFFECT THE AREA LATE SATURDAY
THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING. CURRENT INDICATIONS ARE THAT THE
PRECIPITATION WILL MOSTLY FALL AS SNOW...WITH ACCUMULATIONS UP TO
3 INCHES POSSIBLE. HOWEVER...UNCERTAINTY STILL EXISTS AS TO THE
TOTAL AMOUNT OF PRECIPITATION FORECAST THIS WEEKEND. SOME TRAVEL
AND OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES COULD BE IMPACTED SATURDAY NIGHT AND EARLY
SUNDAY. A MIX OF LIGHT WINTRY PRECIPITATION COULD EXTEND INTO
EARLY MONDAY.

Wilmington NWSFO:
