This is initial notification of a communications exercise that we will
conduct beginning Feb 27- March 2, 2007. More on this will follow. I am
requesting volunteers that can operate from home, EOC's or mobile locations
to notify me of your interest and you will be given a "lot" more information.
ANNEX K HAM & MARS (COMMUNICATIONS/ELECTRONICS) to New Madrid Response

Time Zone used throughout order: Eastern Standard Time (EST) unless
specifically indicated as Central Standard Time (CST).
1. SITUATION: This exercise will test KY MARS and Amateur Radio's
communication capabilities in support of the National Guard and KYEM Seismic
Earthquake Plan. This exercise will test our capabilities to communicate
critical information from the western part of the state during the first
24hrs after a major earthquake. Initial assessments have indicated that all
major communication networks will be disrupted west of Elizabethtown. The
severity of disruption increases as you travel west (see appendix 5).

c. Civil Air Patrol
d. KY Military Affiliate Radio (MARS)
e. KY Amateur Radio (ARES)
2. MISSION: The civilian agencies plus CAP, MARS and ARES are requested to
provide emergency communications during the New Madrid Response Exercise from
26 February- 2 March 2007. CAP, MARS and ARES will provide initial and
continuing reports of information on critical elements of the infrastructure
during the exercise.
