Comments:
KYHAM now has online renewal forms for station appointments. All
appointments will expire at the end of the year unless these forms are filled out. To
date, we have had many people who have filed their renewals. The online forms
can be found at:http://www.kyham.net/emcomm/ares.html.
District 1: Stephen W. Poirier, KC6GNV, EC of McCracken County reports they
had a public service event involving a monthly test of warning sirens.
District 2:
District 3: Kevin Simmons KI4JXN, DEC tells us they now have a
digipeater/maildrop set up for packet in Owensboro on a frequency of 145.010 mhz.
District 4: Chris Shaw, W4BGN, DEC relates Logan County activated a SkyWarn
Net due to a severe thunderstorm that passed through on November 16. Marble
size hail was reported along with numerous trees down.
Hart County EC is in contact with their local 911 center trying to get
amateur radio gear installed at their 911 backup center.
Barren County had a severe thunderstorm on November 16. The storm damaged
some buildings around Glasgow along with trees and power lines down. The local
hams were on standby. Also, the Barren County EC has asked for an ARES forum
to be held at the Cave City Hamfest on March 1 2008.
Warren County EC, Tim Robinson has donated a new 2 meter radio to the local
Red Cross in Bowling Green. Several volunteers of the Red Cross are preparing
to get their Amateur Radio Licenses soon.
District 5:
District 6:
District 7: All county EC's reporting. December 2007 will be the last month
for me NB4K as DEC in District 7. After 27 years in ARES leadership 2 years
as an EC and 25 years as DEC. I will be turning over the reigns as DEC to
Brian Clark, W4SOU on January 1, 2008. It has been a real pleasure to lead the
men and woman in the 7th District for so many years. This area has grown in so
many ways in the last 10 years and has surpassed so many expectation. I ask
each of you to support Brian, W4SOU as he takes over leadership in District 7.
I will remain an active member of the Kentucky District 7 Amateur Radio
Emergency Team and look forward to serving under Brian.
Owen County EC, Billy McCormick has been diligent in providing me the
coordinates for several firehouses and other critical services so APRS overlays can
be made for his area (for more information on the overlays please go to
kyares13.kyham.net/aprs.html)
District 8:
District 9: Matt Tinker AA8P, KY ASM gives us this information: District 9
Emergency Communications Summit Meeting for Radio Amateurs. This meeting is
designed to get an operational plan for our District in case of emergencies,
and to coordinate our efforts with the Kentucky Emergency Plan. Every County in
our District has been operating alone, and its time to put a coordinated
plan in place for our entire District. This meeting is for all amateur radio
operators in the District. If you are involved in ARES, RACES, VE, Club
activities or just a Ham we would like to have you there for your input and help.
The meeting will be on January 19, 2007 beginning at 10:00 am at the Central
Fire Station meeting room in Ashland, Kentucky, and hosted by the River
Cities Amateur Radio Association. For directions please go to the RCARA site at
_www.rcara.org_ (http://www.rcara.org/) . The meeting is scheduled to last
until about 2:30 pm. If you are an EC in a County, please invite as many
Amateurs as possible to attend with you. If you could, please let us know if you
will be attending, and how many from your group.
You can email or call the below numbers. We look forward to seeing you in
Ashland, and hope you will be there to plan for the future of Emergency
Communications in District #9.
Fred Jones WA4SWF, EC of Lawrence County gives us the following: The ARES
Net in Lawrence County on the repeater as ended. With the repeater here
linked into the Paintsville Repeater now we are all going to use Tuesday night,
on The District 9 ARES Net with Emergency Coordinator Ralph Tuley KB9ORD NCS.
We want to thank Daniel Hensley KF4KPL AEC of Lawrence County for all of his
work as NCS on the Lawrence County ARES Net. With the limited amount of
check-ins we have here the net was just not being used as it should. With us
working together with other nets and doing our training together I think will
work much better. Thank you all for working with us on the net and remember
to check into the net

Note: The reporting section of KYHAM is functional. Please submit all
monthly reports there. EC reports will go to their respective DECs for totalling.
Areas with no DEC will still come to me. This will make reporting and
accountability more streamlined. _http://www.kyham.net/emcomm/reports.html_
(http://www.kyham.net/emcomm/reports.html) . Reports are due to your respective DECs by
the 8th of the month. Please fill out the reports completely so they do not
get returned for correction.
Reminder that ARES appointees (OES, EC, DECs) need to file a monthly report
so we can track activities.
