I would just like to make the following comments:

As the training manager for Kentucky Emergency, I would like everyone to know
that we will do all we can to enhance the training needs of all ARES.
The website for KYEM is now http://kyem.ky.gov/ and not
http://kyem.dma.ky.gov.
We are in the department of Military Affairs and are therefore the new
website.
This new website is being updated on a daily bases as possible and has a
training calendar for all classes.
I would welcome all questions and suggestions on training and welcome all
assistance is getting the training accomplished.

Subject: [KYHAM] Training

Training is something you cannot do once and be proficient at it. Training is
a never-ending constant which makes professionals more of an asset instead of
a hindrance.

Training for us comes in a variety of forms. Classes (online or attended),
drills, exercises, nets, demonstrations and meetings are all forms of
training. Some training is hands on. Some are web-based or video-based.

Proficiency makes you an asset. Being a competent asset makes you a
professional. Being a professional makes you an important part of any
operation.

With that said, listed below are web-based training sites, some are simple,
some involved. There are also links to other areas of training. These links
will be updated at certain intervals in order to provide you with the most
current training available. Most have no fee involved.

If you have completed any of these courses, please notify your local
Emergency Coordinator or District Emergency Coordinator.

ARRL Emergency Communications Courses Level I-III
<http://kyares13.kyham.net/www.arrl.org/cce> (fee based) In-depth lessons on
emergency communications and operations from a basic to advanced level.

KY EMCOMM Online Training <http://www.kyham.net/emcomm/training/kytest.html>

volunteer.

Texas DHS Online Training <http://www.teexwmdcampus.com/> (no fee) Online
course regarding Weapons of Mass Destruction. Not mandated but a good
awareness course concerning everyone. This and the following are good course
for anyone in the CSEPP areas.

KY DEM Online Training <http://kyem.dma.ky.gov/training/online_training.htm>
(no fee) Online course for Agro-Terrorism, Bio-Terrorism. again, not mandated

There are also Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training courses that
are free. They are covered more here (CERT)
