Kentucky Section Manager Jim Brooks KY4Z has been licensed since 1987 He was licensed as KB4YGL and later N4SRT before acquiring his current callsign in 2004. Before becoming Section Manager in 2007, he served under then KY SM John Meyers, NB4K, as Kentucky Section Public Information Officer.

Jim is a longtime volunteer with Nelson County Emergency Management and has served as a member of the Haz Mat Region 5 Team with a Technician level certification. He enjoys ragchewing, operating CW, chasing DX, handling traffic, 6-meter grid-square chasing, operating boat anchors and trying new digital modes.

Jim enjoys being part of the Kentucky Emergency Net every Monday evenings at 7:30 p.m. Eastern, and also being part of the Kentucky Digital Net (7 p.m. Wednesdays on 3585 PSK31) and KDN-2 on Monday nights at 8:30 p.m. following the KEN.
